Plan Your Visit to Abu Dhabi Royal Equestrian Arts on Jubail Island, Abu Dhabi

ADREA offers two distinct experiences, a weekly classical horsemanship performance and a guided tour through eight immersive campus spaces. Each experience follows its own route through the 65,000 sq m campus, and both are managed and staff-guided throughout. This page covers everything you need to navigate your visit from arrival to exit.

Navigating Your Way at ADREA

ADREA's campus on Jubail Island is large: 65,000 sq m of grounds surrounded by mangroves, with the built facility covering approximately 18,000 sq m. Your route through the campus depends entirely on which experience you've booked.

Arrive and park on-site

Complimentary self-parking and valet are available on-site. For the show, arrive at least 30 minutes before the 6pm start. Parking is first-come, first-served and fills up on show nights. For the guided tour, arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled session.

Enter the campus and check in

Tickets are delivered electronically to your registered email. Present them on a mobile device or as a printed copy. Latecomers are not admitted to the show once it has begun. Late arrivals for the guided tour may not be accommodated.

Follow your experience

Once inside, your route is determined by your ticket. Show guests proceed to the performance arena. Tour guests follow a staff-guided route through all eight spaces, from the central courtyard through the stables, cultural spaces, and atelier. Neither experience allows independent exploration of restricted campus areas.

After your visit

On-site restaurants and cafés are open daily until 11pm, making it easy to extend your evening after the show or tour. Knead Bakery is open on Saturday performance nights.

Handy tips

  • Book in advance. The show runs once a week on Saturdays only, and guided tour slots are time-specific. Both sell out, particularly on weekends. On-site purchase is possible but not guaranteed.
  • For the show, treat it as a cultural performance, not a sporting event. Classical horsemanship values precision over pace; some of the most technically demanding moments are also the most still. Look for the subtlety in the rider–horse dialogue, not just the bigger movements.
  • For the guided tour, wear closed, comfortable shoes. Parts of the tour pass through outdoor courtyards and stable areas on a large campus. Lightweight, breathable clothing is recommended year-round in Abu Dhabi's climate.
  • Photography is strictly prohibited during the show. On the tour, it is permitted in designated areas only; your guide will advise throughout. Keep your phone on silent from the moment you enter the arena.
  • ADREA is a working institution. The horses live and train on this campus every day. Follow your guide's instructions throughout the tour, particularly around the stables and equine clinic; quiet, calm behaviour is expected at all times.
  • Consider both experiences across two visits. The show and the guided tour are designed to complement each other; the tour gives you the context that makes the performance richer. Many visitors find the combination across two separate days is the right way to experience ADREA fully.

Performance Arena

The centrepiece of the ADREA campus, a climate-controlled indoor arena with 1,200 assigned seats, is purpose-built for Abu Dhabi's climate. This is where Furusiyya: Return to Origins is staged every Saturday at 6pm. Sightlines are designed to be unobstructed from all seating tiers. On the guided tour, you pass through the arena to observe riders in active training sessions.

Furusiyya Gallery

Houses 173 rare artefacts spanning over 2,000 years of equestrian history across Eastern and Western civilisations, from the Arab world and the Ottoman Empire through to the European classical schools. The gallery traces how the horse and rider relationship has been documented and celebrated across centuries and cultures.

Equestrian Library

The first specialised equestrian library in the Middle East, holding over 14,000 books, manuscripts, and rare volumes on horsemanship, breeding, veterinary science, and equestrian history. Designed by Beirut studio David/Nicolas around a hand-carved wooden core, it was built as a space for contemplation and scholarship. Ethr Coffee operates inside the library.

Dar Al Hiraf Saddle Atelier

The UAE's first atelier dedicated exclusively to saddle-making. Conceived as a "room within a room," the space places craftspeople literally at centre stage, with saddles in progress lining the perimeter and tools laid out with deliberate care. Live demonstrations of saddle design, construction, and restoration run throughout opening hours.

The Stables

Home to 40+ pure Spanish-bred white stallions, housed in 60 air-conditioned stables each equipped with real-time individual health monitoring. The campus was designed around a horse-first philosophy, every architectural decision, from ventilation to the layout of training tracks, prioritises the welfare of the horses. A dedicated veterinary and rehabilitation clinic sits adjacent.

Central Courtyard

The arrival point for the guided tour is a reflective space evoking Andalusian and Moorish design, with white stucco walls, arched doorways, terracotta-tiled roofs, and a central fountain. Your guide begins here, setting the context for Furusiyya and the philosophy that connects every space on the tour.

Visiting ADREA with family

ADREA works well for family visits, with a few things to know before you book.

Age rules for the show

  • Children under 3 are not permitted at the show.
  • A responsible adult must accompany all children under 12.

The guided tour is the better option for very young children: If you're visiting with children under 3, the guided tour is the right ticket. It covers all eight campus spaces, including a stable visit where children can see 40+ horses up close, something many young visitors find more engaging than a seated performance.

What works well for older children and teenagers: The show is well-suited to children aged 6 and above who can sit quietly for 60 minutes. Classical horsemanship rewards attention: older children who are interested in horses, history, or performance will get the most from it. For curious teenagers, the guided tour's combination of the Furusiyya Gallery (2,000 years of artefacts), the live saddle-making atelier, and the stable visit covers a lot of ground in a single visit.
